Mission Trips

Youth and adults make yearly mission trips to rural Missouri, Appalachia and Mexico, where their construction skills are put to use to provide shelter for local families or organizations. The Appalachian Service Project unites youth going into 9th grade and up with adults from our faith community to work in rural

Appalachia along with youth and adults from other United Methodist Churches. This trip lasts one week, with time spent before the trip raising money and honing basic construction skills. Younger youth, sixth grade and up, spend four days on a mission trip to rural Missouri, along with youth from other United Methodist Churches in our conference. Adults from our congregation and others in the conference also commit themselves to ten-day trips to Mexico where they
construct needed buildings in remote communities. Individuals from UUMC also connect with other district and conference organizations to assist in other mission trips. In 2002 UUMC members have participated in 7 different mission trips.
