Know God's Joy. Work for Justice. Practice Peace

We Gather to Worship

"I find this congregation to be unusually kind, generous, tolerant and open-minded. I am inspired by the thousands of ways people in this church try to lead Christian lives.  They consistently and creatively reach out into their community. they practice what they preach about love."

Each Sunday morning the community of faith known as University UMC gathers to worship at 10:30. Tradition blends with new ideas. Praise and prayer both call us to God. The Word is read, proclaimed and the family is called to action in the church, the community, the nation and the world.

"From the first time I was in worship, I found this friendly attitude toward each; first-time visitor or long-time member."

A special time for children is included in the worship service, after which children ages three  through second grade are invited to participate in Children's Church. The church nursery welcomes children from birth through age two.

"What I love about this church is its openness, its understanding, it acceptance of all. It truly takes in all God's children without respect to how or why they have found their way here. In so doing, I believe we truly reflect the spirit of the Lord."

The first Sunday of each month is a celebration of Holy Communion with the table open to all who love Jesus Christ.

"After my first visit I went home thinking, 'They like me. They really like me!'"
