Know God's Joy. Work for Justice. Practice Peace

Youth

Youth at UUMC is made up of four important pieces: learning, fellowship, service and worship. Connecting all four parts of the program keeps us grounded while we learn to soar.

"Youth is so open. Open to discussion, open to people, open to views, open to change. It's one of the few places I can relax and be myself. It's just a great community, recognizing that everyone is unique and has a right to be so."

Spark is the UUMC Youth Group for grades 6-12.  The United Methodist Flame is our beginning. We are the spark thrown off from that flame living in the youth of University UMC. Spark divides its time between fellowship and service. Annual retreats and lock-ins balance with game and movie nights as well as raking lawns and urban and rural mission trips.

UUMC youth group is a place where everyone has a home, a Friend and an extremely dependable community. The way in which it welcomes people and immediately makes them feel at home and its openness to diversity is incredible."

Youth Sunday School is where we learn. From Harry Potter and the Bible, to Hip Hop to Human Sexuality, we try to cover all the topics that are part of our world.  If we cannot learn to connect our faith to our life outside of church, we believe it's worth little.

"Our youth Sunday School is really unique both in the people who come here and the topics we discuss. I can talk about anything here!"

Kindling is an intentional group of UUMC youth whose focus is on service and worship. This group is for those who want a deeper spiritual and service connection.  The group meets two times each month on Saturday afternoons. Worship styles will vary and service projects focus on the needs of the congregation and community.

"I like coming together with the youth group family each week. The worship activities and service opportunities add meaning to my life."
