Layette Kits for Haiti
UMCOR is requesting that United Methodist congregations participate in a special collection of Layette Kits for Haiti.  The following message was in the UMCOR weekly update:

"Layette kits and birthing kits are in still in great demand. Please consider assembling layette kits and birthing kits to address the basic needs of babies born in displaced persons camps in Haiti. Contact your conference or district office to find out if a designated drop-off point has been established for a cost effective way to transport your supplies to either of the two UMCOR depots."

These kits will be collected and taken by Reverend Linda to Annual Conference in June. Please consider assembling a kit and bringing it to church before June 1.

Layette Kit Items (Value: $35 per kit)

   * 2 shirts or 2 one-piece body suits

Meals on Wheels
Dear friends,
The University City Meals on Wheels Program managed by Tammy Tate delivers hot meals to homebound elderly and disabled. Tammy is struggling to maintain operations because there are not enough volunteers. Can any of you help?
Volunteer as little as one hour a day, one hour a week, or one hour a month.  Volunteer in the morning, at noon, or in early afternoon.  Mileage is reimbursed; excess liability insurance is provided.
In University City, call 721-2722.

400,000th Meal
On March 18th, at 12:09pm, The Bridge served its 400,000th meal!  The Bridge served its first lunch in November 2005, to about 45 people in the parking lot of Centenary UMC.  Today we serve an average of 3000 meals each week.  The Bridge is now open 60 hours every week and serves 15 meals over 6 days.
